The Irish Deaf Society as Ireland's National Association OF the Deaf, strives to highlight the societal needs of all sections in the Deaf community, advocates the human rights of the Deaf through empowerment and achieve equal access in all aspects of life endowed by the full Irish citizenship.

The Irish Deaf Society (IDS) is the national representative organisation of Deaf and hard of hearing people, serving the interest and welfare of the Deaf community. The Irish Deaf Society, wants to see a society where Deaf people have full and unrestricted access to all walks of life thus becoming equal citizens, contributing and participating freely. The IDS represents the Irish Deaf community on an international level through its membership of the World Federation of the Deaf and the European Union of the Deaf.
