The Heart Research Institute Ltd (HRI) was established in 1989 through a joint initiative of the National Heart Foundation of Australia, the Cardiologists of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the New South Wales and Federal governments. As an independent world-class research institute, HRI is a centre for scientific excellence with a focus on researching and understanding the origins and mechanisms of atherosclerosis.
