Avaaz.org is a community of global citizens who take action on the major issues facing the world today. Our members act for a more just and peaceful world and a globalisation with a human face. We are a new global online advocacy community that brings people-powered politics to global decision-making. Avaaz, meaning "voice" in several European, Middle Eastern and Asian languages, was launched in January 2007 with a simple democratic mission: organize citizens everywhere to help close the gap between the world we have and the world most people want. In 3 years, Avaaz has grown to 5.5 million members from every country on earth, becoming the largest global web movement in history. Avaaz empowers its members to take action on pressing issues of international concern, from global poverty to the crises in the Middle East to climate change.Its model of internet organising allows thousands of individual efforts, however small, to be rapidly combined into a powerful collective force. The Avaaz community is served by a small team of global campaigners working in many countries to identify and develop opportunities for members to take action.
