ActionAid is an International Non-Governmental organisation registered in The Netherlands and headquartered in Johannesburg South Africa. ActionAid International works in 45 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. 25 of these country programmes, affiliates or associates are in Africa and are led by Africans. The organisation started programming with service delivery, especially assistance to orphans and poor children to assess primary education. Now, we utilise Rights-based Approach in our works. ActionAid works with the poor and excluded, promoting values and commitment in civil society, institutions and governments with the aim of achieving structural changes in order to eradicate injustices and poverty in the world. Our works are defined in Five thematic areas of Reproductive Sexual Health and Rights (HIV/AIDS); Education; Human Security in Conflict and Emergencies and the integrated Partnerships Against Poverty, building on the experiences and lessons learnt from the initial work, and where appropriate creating linkages with existing thematic areas. Promoting good governance and Gender & Women's Rights are cross-cutting themes which apply across the whole programme, but also have stand alone initiatives.
