More information
The first association named ASF (Avocats Sans Frontières - Lawyers without Borders) was created in 1992 in Belgium by lawyers aiming the respect of Human rights everywhere in the world. The goal of this association was to secure the defence of every person of whom the fundamental rights are not respected and who cannot benefit from the help of a free and independent lawyer. Registered to the Prefecture of Haute-Garonne in France, this association is governed by the French law on associations and therefore enjoys a juridical personality. Today, ASF France brings together some 720 members, as private lawyers as well as a large part of the Orders of French lawyers and French professional organizations. It benefits from the support of the Conseil National des Barreaux Français (the National Council of French Bars) and of the Conférence des Bâtonniers de France (the Conference of the French Presidents of Bars) and it maintains close relations with international organizations of lawyers. Its members have also been able to deserve in the field the trust of national and international organizations with which partnership relations have been set up.
