To find a cure for muscular dystrophy and its related conditions and to make life better for those who have it.

More information

The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Western Australia (MDA WA) is a not-for-profit organisation that relies on the support and generosity of the Western Australian community. Founded in 1967 by a small group of parents in conjunction with the Rotary Club of West Perth and Dr Byron Kakulas, MDA WA today strives to provide those affected by muscular dystrophy and allied neuromuscular conditions with an improved quality of life, to enable them to participate fully in their community without prejudice or discrimination, and to find a cure. Over the years, enormous benefits have been provided by MDA WA for the local community and world leadership has developed in many areas. More specifically, there are several thousands of individual scientific articles that have been published through direct and indirect support of MDA WA over the past 40 years; each representing a significant scientific advance, and then incorporating into the international body of knowledge. Brick by brick, an enormous body of knowledge has been established for the benefit of patients and their families.
