Guide Dogs Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation that provides training and support services to vision impaired and blind Victorians to enable them to become more independent, better oriented and more mobile within the community.

Guide Dogs Victoria (GDV) is one of the state's oldest and best loved charities. We are committed to satisfying the mobility aspirations of people who are blind or vision impaired by offering high quality services that meet their needs, enhance their quality of life and assist in their achievement of independence, safety and confidence. Since 1957, when a group of prominent Victorians formed a committee and signed a constitution to establish a Guide Dog Association in Melbourne, Guide Dogs Victoria has assisted literally thousands of blind and vision impaired Victorians achieve safe and independant travel. There are a number of different mobility options for people with a vision impairment that we take into consideration, for many people a Guide Dog is not the answer and we work with each person to find the right mobility solution for them, e.g. long cane and electronic aids.
