More information
We rescue orphaned gorillas, chimpanzees and monkeys in Cameroon and give them sanctuary in a safe forest environment. Most of the animals are orphans of the illegal bushmeat trade. Many arrive with horrific physical injuries and they suffer psychologically after seeing their families killed. They are also often cruelly treated by poachers who think they can sell them to the primate pet trade. Education is vital to our conservation work - the future of the great apes is in the hands of the children of today. People are important to us too and we work hard with the local communities to develop alternative livelihoods. We are a registered NGO in Cameroon, a UK registered charity and a US 501(3)(c) not for profit organisation. We are passionate about great ape conservation at Ape Action Africa, which is home to more than 330 primates, including endangered species - 20 gorillas and over 100 chimpanzees.
