VST is a progressive UK charity that works with Indian NGOs to support women, HIV+ people and Dalits (living a life of humiliation under the unwritten caste codes) confronting poverty and injustice. We empower marginalised people to build community organisations and pursue lives free from poverty, violence and discrimination. We focus on Tamil Nadu in southern India where we have worked for 30 years. This long involvement and our direct contact with Indian development workers brings both grassroots knowledge and professionalism to our programmes. In order to achieve the greatest possible improvement in the lives of the people, we work with VST partners with experienced, stable and committed organisations regarded as experts in their fields by the Indian government, UK and European funders and other NGOs.
