Gustavus is a community with a Christian tradition and a Lutheran identity. The Lutheran understanding of education brings positive value in the all-important exploration of the world and its diverse people. Gustavus welcomes and respects all persons who choose a Gustavus education. The College encourages faith exploration by students and staff. We affirm the conviction that faith informs learning and learning informs faith. Curriculum aspects that address religion and faith are not aimed at conversion, but rather understanding. Voluntary daily chapel provides opportunity for praise, prayer and listening to diverse campus voices as they address a variety of topics, including personal faith journeys. Many fellowship groups assist students as they grow in faith.
