To offer financial help to those who have Staffordshire Bull Terriers and are in need of financial assistance, for veterinary fees, kennelling and similar contingencies.

In August 1995, it was decided there was a need for a registered charity and "Staffordshire Bull Terrier Welfare" was created, to work alongside the other SBT rescue groups in the country, but to have a different unifying role. The “hands-on” work would be left to the regional groups, whilst "SBT Welfare" would become a support group, encouraging the others to work together, as in unity there is strength. Charitable status was conferred on “The Welfare” (as it's colloquially known) on 14th October 1996.
