The Trust is dedicated specifically to research and education in the built environment.

The BRE Trust is a charitable company whose objectives are through research and education, to advance knowledge, innovation and communication in all matters concerning the built environment for public benefit. As a charity for research and education, the BRE Trust commissions 'for public benefit' research from the BRE Group of companies and elsewhere. It awards scholarships and bursaries to PhD and MSc students and provides financial support for the Chairs held by the Directors of the Centres that together form the ‘BRE-Universities Partnership'. Profits made by the subsidiary companies are passed to the Trust and used by it to promote its charitable objectives.
