More information
In 2008 Cork Simon Community supported almost 900 different people across all our projects and services - men and women ranging in age from 18 years to over 80 years. Accommodation alone will not solve homelessness. While the provision of a safe, secure and appropriate place to live forms a critical part of a person's journey out of homelessness, it needs to be backed-up with a range of different supports that will help people get their lives back on track. Those supports can range form being able to get access to healthcare to address many different physical and mental health issues, to getting timely help for people with addictions, to learning how to cope with difficult and stressful situations, to basic friendly support and a listening ear. Cork Simon reaches out to people who are sick, vulnerable and marginalised, people who are excluded from everyday activities that most of us take for granted.
