The Durban & Coast SPCA's mission is to improve the welfare of, and to prevent cruelty to, all animals in the Greater Durban Area. We provide veterinary services for pets of the underprivileged, unemployed, and pensioned.

The Durban & Coast SPCA was founded in 1897. This was the beginning of a long, hard fight for animals; and the battle to abolish cruelty still rages today. Despite facing insurmountable odds through many difficult years, our fledgling society went from strength to strength and became a dynamic, recognised body, considered the foremost authority on animal welfare. The Durban & Coast SPCA is dedicated to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Our Society exposes perpetrators of cruelty, enforces the animal protection act and promotes responsibility, care and compassion for all animals.
