When dealing with children in difficult situations, IDE's action is centred more precisely on: Children in situation of disability, in sport, in conflict with the law, in street situations, victim of harmful traditional practices, migrant children, in media.

The IDE is supported by a foundation created in 1995. The Foundation of the International Institute for the Rights of the Child and is counselled by a scientific council composed of 10 people. It is apolitical and A-denominational. The IDE is situated in the buildings of the University Institute Kurt Bösch in Sion, in the Canton of Valais. The IDE could not have dreamed of a more idyllic setting to accomplish numerous activities than in the buildings that are cradled by the river Borgne, and looking on to an impregnable view of the Alps as well as the Town’s Castles of Tourbillon and Valère; IDE is also available in its Geneva Office Branch.
