Ruperra Conservation Trust was formed in 1996, and owns Coed Craig Ruperra, a 150 acre woodland between Newport and Cardiff in South Wales. The woodland originally formed part of the large Ruperra estate and is situated to the north of the ruined Ruperra Castle. It lies in a Special Landscape Area, while the entire Ruperra Parkland is a Conservation Area and graded II on the Cadw/ICOMOS register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales. Ruperra Conservation Trust received a management grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and by the end of the winter in March 2002 the woodland had been replanted with native broadleaf seedlings - ash, oak, rowan, alder and hazel. The Trust hopes to make Coed Craig Ruperra a pleasant place for quiet enjoyment and to encourage the ancient wildlife to return.
