To prepare young people for honorable leadership by educating them in the theory, practice and benefits of a free society.

More information

The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) has been educating young leaders on the values of freedom and free-market economies since 1967. Twelve Institutes around the world bring college students together for educational programs engaging them in a rigorous examination of economic concepts, political systems and moral philosophy. Our goal is to prepare young people for honorable leadership by educating them in the theory, practice and benefits of a free society. TFAS was founded to help instill in young people an appreciation for the American form of government and the free-enterprise system. TFAS sponsors Institutes that teach college students about the principles and values upon which the United States was founded. Ten Institutes are held each summer in Washington, DC, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hong Kong and Latin America and are sponsored in part by Georgetown University. One more Institute is held during the fall and spring semesters in Washington, DC., and an additional Institute is held in Athens, Greece during the fall. In addition to our summer and semester Institutes, TFAS sponsors other educational programs and conferences for professors and students throughout the year.
