A Better World was established in 1990 as part of the College Heights Adventist church in Lacombe, Alberta and focused on a few small international projects. It has since grown to include people from all walks of life dedicated to improving lives without regard to ethnic, political or religious association. It works in places such as Tibet, Bolivia, and India, while maintaining a focus on projects in Eastern Africa. The church has adopted A Better World as one of many humanitarian activities it governs. This partnership allows A Better World to operate with minimal costs as the church provides for all accounting, auditing and management functions. It also provides additional funding for projects through its affiliation with other aid agencies. Everyone is welcome to participate in A Better World activities to help improve lives at home and abroad.

CPI is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, consisting of passionate volunteers who saw the greatest need in helping children through personal experiences and travel abroad. We are committed to seeing the lives of orphaned, abandoned, and homeless children transformed, and aspire to strengthen their confidence and character. We want to ignite sparks of hope that endure and burn endlessly over a lifetime, creating many milestones and fulfilling many goals. Our organization is based on the belief that if only one 'child's promise' is fulfilled, it will invoke perpetual positive change in a child's life. The needs and development of the children we serve are the most important responsibilities we have to fulfill. Our entire team is committed to meeting those needs.

We run a feeding scheme, distributing weekly food parcels to 197 families for whom this often is the only food that they will receive all week. Unfortunately, the need far outstrips the supply, and many families are turned away empty-handed. A Friend in Need continually identifies needs in the local community and try to address them. We currently have a nursery school, catering for 68 children at a minimum charge, and we have recently opened a community library, providing local children with access to information and a place where they can do their homework. We believe that both being, and having friends may have a positive impact on somebody's life.

A Place Called Home (APCH) was started in 1993 by Founder and President Debrah Constance. It was created to give the gang affected youth of the impoverished inner-city a place where they could come after school, get a snack, do their homework, watch TV, play with their friends, and be with people that care about them - basic rights that all kids should have. From this fundamental concept, APCH grew at an exponential rate and now offers its' youth members many programs including an all-day school in collaboration with the Los Angeles Unified School District; computer lab; music; art; dance; tutoring and mentoring.

Throughout his years as a leader of the labor, civil rights and anti-war movements, A.J. Muste motivated many people with his dedication and commitment to nonviolent action. Seven years after A.J.'s death in 1967, a group of pacifists inspired by his legacy started the A.J. Muste Memorial Institute. The Institute sought to carry forward A.J.'s commitment to nonviolent radical change by providing the movement for peace and justice with practical, concrete support. In 1981 the Institute launched its Essay Series on Nonviolence with a pamphlet featuring the speeches and letters of Martin Luther King, Jr. Since then, the Institute has distributed thousands of pamphlets, and has provided grants and sponsorships to hundreds of grassroots projects around the world working to end war, oppose nuclear power, stop the death penalty, fight for racial and sexual equality, and for immigrant rights.
