In 1995, the Ebeneser Foundation established the early childhood education-oriented Childhood Institute, the goal of which is to operate actively to maintain and promote the welfare of children. The Institute fulfils this mission in concert with other non-profit organisations, institutions of higher learning and research institutes. The Childhood Institute operates on principles of multidisciplinarity and cross-disciplinary research. The goal is to integrate scientific diversity on a theoretical-methodological level. In practice, the Institute achieves this principle by building and supporting research initiatives in which the principles of multidisciplinarity and cross-disciplinarity are set up as the foundation of the research. However, the principle does not necessarily entail large, far-reaching or expensive research projects. This principle can be followed in small-scale initiatives as well as in more far-reaching projects.
