Established in 1967 by a group of parents in Adelaide's northern suburbs, Barkuma has grown to employ more than 150 staff across the metropolitan area. Barkuma provides services to over 1,000 people, making it one of the largest disability organisations in South Australia. Services include open employment, supported employment, transition services, community living support, training, counselling, advocacy and support.
