The Gallery was founded in 1856 to collect portraits of famous British men and women. The National Portrait Gallery houses the world's largest collection of personalities and faces, from the late Middle Ages to the present day. We have a Young People's Programme of sessions, workshops and a Youth Forum dedicated to working with 14 - 21-year-olds outside of school.
