More information
We are part of the global Amnesty International movement and exist to help New Zealanders add their voices to the many voices around the world, working to defend the human rights and dignity of people everywhere. The first Amnesty group in New Zealand was formed in Wellington in 1965 and our national network now boasts some 8,000 individuals and groups all playing an active part in defending human rights. At any one time our people are working on cases and issues in approximately 90 countries. Here in New Zealand we take a particular interest in human rights in the Asia-Pacific region and nations of the Commonwealth.
