The Community Foundation exists in perpetuity to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of southeastern Michigan. The mission of the Community Foundation includes convening, planning and working for positive change.

The Community Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization governed by a board of 55 volunteer civic leaders. Of the more than 670 community foundations nationwide, the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is among the top 30 in assets. Since 1984, we have been serving as a vehicle for donors, volunteers and community members to identify important issues, share ideas and build the financial resources to make positive long-term change. We are building permanent community capital in the form of endowments that create a base of stable financial support for the region.
