The Hunger Project Switzerland, based in Geneva, was founded in 1983. The association is nondenominational, politically neutral and, in light of its public welfare purpose, exempt from taxation. According to the present taxation regulations, voluntary monetary contributions are deductible in all the cantons and the Confederation. With its revenues, it supports The Global Hunger Project, founded in 1977, recognized as a non-governmental organization within the UN, and accorded advisory status with the Economic and Social Council of that body.
