The mission of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts is to serve the community as a privately operated and maintained institution that will provide premier venues for resident companies and other professional and community attractions, to broaden the range, quality and accessibility of cultural fare available to the public, to encourage distinctive arts education and outreach programs, to contribute to the cultural quality of life in Houston, Harris County and the region.

The Hobby Center is operated by the Hobby Center Foundation, a nonprofit organization. The vision of the Hobby Center is grounded in the philosophy of serving the entire community and reflecting the contemporary spirit that is so unique to Houston. The mission is to bring world-class entertainment and innovative works to current performing art lovers, and perhaps most importantly, to inspire the next generation of performers and patrons. This outreach effort is part of the Hobby Center’s identity. One of our performance halls is Zilkha Hall. It is the home for small to mid-size art groups looking to expand their audiences and a place where families can bring their children for cost-effective and meaningful educational programs. The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts is home to several resident performance companies and other exceptional series providing exceptional and diverse entertainment.
